PRS SE CE 24 Standard Satin – Only $499
These PRS SE CE 24 Standard Satin models have just been announced, offering guitarists a super affordable entry point into the PRS brand. With an official price of only $499, is this more than just a beginner’s instrument?
PRS SE CE 24 Standard Satin
PRS has revealed the SE CE 24 Standard Satin models and the specifications are excellent. They include a mahogany body, a bolt-on maple neck, and a 10″ radius rosewood fretboard adorned with PRS Bird inlays. Therefore, it has all the core ingredients of a PRS Core model, just at a far lower price point, which makes this model well worth checking out.
Satin
The satin finish is available on launch in Vintage Cherry, Turquoise, and Charcoal. They all look great with the matching black plastics and nickel hardware. PRS states that the thin satin finish results in a highly resonant instrument, and the maple neck’s semi-gloss finish provides a smooth playing feel.
It does look like a slick player, and hopefully, once players get their hands on them, we will get some feedback. For now, I will say that I am impressed with the overall aesthetic of these guitars and that they look very playable.
85/15 “S”
These models come equipped with 85/15 “S” humbucking pickups. They are then controlled by a Volume and Push/Pull Tone control and a 3-way toggle pickup switch. It’s all very typical for PRS and a tried and tested layout for versatile tones.
PRS Hardware
Hardware includes a set of PRS-designed tuners and their PRS Patented Tremolo system, which is a solid setup and will stand up to just about anything you can throw at it.
Verdict
As you may have already guessed, I am pretty impressed with these models for the price point. Suppose I was looking for a gigging guitar or a beginner model. These would be high on my list of guitars to try out for both scenarios. Which I think says a lot about the PRS SE CE 24 Standard Satin, as it appeals on many levels. Plus, it could be a great guitar to upgrade over time if you want to change any essential elements, like pickups or tuners.
They are all available to preorder at Thomann already: Charcoal*, Turquoise* and Vintage Cherry*, with stock currently due in 6-8 weeks.
