PRS SE Factory Tour 2022 video shows how it’s done
PRS takes us behind the scenes at their PRS SE Indonesian factory
The new PRS SE Factory Tour 2022 video shows how it’s done. As ever PRS are not afraid to show their fans exactly how their PRS SE models are built in Indonesia. This just under 20-minute long video shows you exactly how and why they make them so good.
PRS SE Factory Tour 2022
This PRS SE Factory Tour 2022 video shows the SE Series factory in the Mojokerto Region, East Java, in Indonesia in all its glory. Originally, the PRS SE Series began in 2001 after Carlos Santana expressed his desire to have a more affordable signature guitar that cost hundreds rather than thousands. As he wanted his younger fans to be able to afford a PRS instrument.
“We’re very proud of the relationship we’ve built with PT Cort on every level. We’re all dedicating a significant amount of time and energy into building the best guitars we can, and we wanted to convey that care and dedication, in part, with this video.” – Jack Higginbotham PRS
PRS rose to the challenge and as we all know the PRS SE side of the business has set a very high bar for affordable, pro-quality guitars. I own an SE myself and it holds up against my USA Core models very well. I would say that personally, they are more than capable of the job.
Indonesia
The PRS SE Series moved into its first proprietary factory space in Indonesia back in 2018 and the level of instruments they are now producing is pretty expansive. For example, in recent years with the release of the SE Paul’s Guitar, SE Custom 24-08 and more recently the SE Silver Sky which is John Mayer’s signature model.
As a good example of quality, these SE Silver Sky *models come in a variety of cool colours and are getting very favourable reviews from owners over at Thomann.
This new SE factory is part of the PT Cort plant but is situated in its own dedicated building. This has allowed PRS to approach the SE guitars from the same point of view as their USA-made instruments. With complete control over the whole process, PRS can build guitars exactly how they want them, and maintain very high standards
Around 500 are made every day at the facility. The video itself is well worth a watch and you can see it below.

Is this the same Cort factory Squier uses? They do excellent work.
QC within the PRS company has been and continues to be the industry leader, although it must be noted that the earliest production after the move of the SE line to Indonesia had a few rough moments there. No matter, because overall PRS QC is as remarkable as many former PRS innovations. Young people today may not know what I mean when I call it State of the Art — an often-abused phrase — but here it is on video.
