PRS SE Silver Sky Maple revealed at last, plus new colours added
New maple fretboards and colours added for this year

These new PRS SE Silver Sky Maple have just been revealed adding maple fretboards to the already popular affordable John Mayer signature guitar lineup. Plus, there are two new colours for the SE Silver Sky Rosewood model for 2023.
SE Silver Sky Maple
PRS has made the move we all knew was coming and officially announced the new SE Silver Sky Maple models. It’s been 5 years since the original Core Silver Sky models were announced and now the SE line has expanded further to catch up with the USA-made models.

John Mayer Spec
They feature a poplar body, plus a bolt-on maple neck and maple fretboard with a set of the PRS trademark bird inlays. That neck has been fitted with 22-frets on a 25.5” scale length neck, that has the original 635JM carve and an 8.5” fretboard radius.
Pickups are three single-coil 635JM “S” pickups and it has the two-point steel tremolo, synthetic bone nut and vintage-style tuners of the standard SE model.

Plus, that controversial reverse PRS headstock shape, a shape that has divided PRS fans somewhat.
This new maple version of the SE Silver Sky is available in three colours: Summit Purple, Nylon Blue and Overland Gray.

SE Silver Sky Rosewood
The SE Silver Sky with a rosewood fretboard is now available in some new colours for 2023 including Storm Gray and Piano Black plus the original Moon White and Stone Blue finishes.

Verdict
I can certainly see these new maple fretboards being popular and I also much prefer these new colours compared to the original SE Silver Sky release.
Plus, I would also guess we should see these new finishes at dealers soon, though both of the original Moon White and Stone Blue finishes are currently available on Thomann.
That new Summit Purple finish looks pretty sweet though and I can see it being popular.
