Acorn Amps’ Solid State is recreation of QOTSA frontman Josh Homme’s secret weapon. Based on the Peavey Decade practise amp, the band uses on the studio to get their tones. Used on guitar and bass to great effect. Now you can get those unforgettable tones for your rig.

Solid State

Acorn Amps has essentially shrunk down the already pretty small practise amp and distilled the tones into a pedal format. The new Solid State pedal has controls for Pre and Post Gain, plus  Low, Mid and High.

Modes

Along with a standard Bypass switch and a switch that toggles between Normal and Saturation modes. Finally, you have a mute switch, along with a toggle so you can send your signal out before or after the power amp circuit. A bi-colour LED lights up green in Normal mode and red in Saturation mode, so you’ll know where you are.

Secret Weapon

The Solid State does a convincing job of recreating the tones of this classic solid-state practice amp. The pedal itself is actually a full 10 watt solid-state guitar amp and runs from an external 18V power supply. Sometimes, small amplifiers are a great tool in the studio. Therefore, to be able to get that tone in a live situation could be very useful. Especially, if you like that Queens of the Stone Age tone.

QOTSA Studio Tool

Original Peavey Decade amps have shot up in price ever since Josh Homme shared his secret weapon in the studio. This new pedal can get you that tone, or pretty close to it. Plus, it will fit easily into your rig without the hassle of dealing with an old ’80s practise amp. And as the Solid State incorporates the same TDA series Class-AB power amp device, I would expect it to get you the tones you are after.

RRP – USD 299

People are paying 500bucks for Peavey practice amps now….AHAHAHAHAHA. Is there any group of people more gullible than guitarists? I love QOTSA but anyone who didn’t realise Homme was trolling and actually buys into this is a dipsh*t, forrrr real.
