Reason 13 is here with new Synths and Effects!
Upgrade to the latest version of Reason.
Reason 13 is currently in BETA, arriving on June 18 with upgrades to the sequencer, browser, and a few new instruments and effects.
Reason started off as a visual representation of a vintage hardware studio, but it has evolved into a fully-fledged DAW system over the past 20 years.
What’s new in Reason 13?
Originally, Reason’s sequencer and arrangement window were always works in progress, so improvements in this area are welcome. In Reason 13, the software has undergone a redesign of the interface and sequencer for smoother operations.
In addition, the Browser has also been streamlined with new tags and categories options to help you find your sounds faster. What’s more, there are over 1000 new additions to the sound library, including loops, samples, and device patches.
One of the most exciting new additions is, without a doubt, the Polytone Dual-Layer Synthesizer. As the name suggests, it’s a polyphonic analogue-style synth with two layers, allowing you to quickly create thick warm sounds.
The 2-oscillator architecture is simple, but it offers features like oscillator cross modulation, a multimode filter, as well as built-in chorus and reverb effects. Overall, it looks like a fun addition to the Reason arsenal.
Next, is the Ripley Space Delay. Although you might be expecting an RE-201 clone, the Ripley is a combination of digital reverb and delay with great options for creating rhythmic stereo effects.
In addition, there is a range of tools like the Feedback Filter, two LFOs, Wobbler, Distortion, Bit Crusher, and EQ. When you combine these with its modular routing options, it can provide some space-age sounds.
Finally, there are three new utilitarian tool devices for the Reason rack. These include the Sidechain Tool for auto-ducking, the Gain Tool for basic gain and pan functions, and the Stereo Tool for frequency-based widening.
Pricing and availability:
If you purchased or upgraded to Reason 12 anytime from January 1st of 2024, you qualify for a free Reason 13 Upgrade. The software is currently in its BETA testing phase, and you can volunteer as a tester by following this link. Meanwhile, Reason+ subscribers also receive a free upgrade.
Reason 13 will be officially released on June 18, we assume that pricing will remain the same as the previous version.
We are thrilled to introduce Reason 13 to the world. Our goal with this upgrade was to improve Reason’s unique music-making workflow. Whether it’s your main DAW or go-to plugin, Reason 13 adds a ton of features—all designed to get you to your sound faster.

Reason used to be my goto DAW until I fell into the funk of making the same music over and over. The arranger is just so clunky that I had to make the switch to work with midi/audio in a more clean way. First it was ableton and now Bitwig is my goto. I’m am just waiting for Reason to update their timeline/arranger, turn off those automatic slice markers, allow more zooming, hotkeys for simple quick edits. Update the piano roll so it feels less like a DAW from the early 2000’s which it still is or at least its the same since Reason 4. To be about 9 versions since i started using it and to still be so outdated is kinda sad and im sure they’ve pivoted to subscriptions and more modules versus the DAW itself so I just wait until they Pivot back and we see a new updated Reason beyond just HiDEF modules and VSt support 10 years too late.
Sorry but this update feels meh. And no new features in the RRP? :/
As many of us have bought many soft synths and many VST effects over the years, Many of us aren’t in the slightest bit interested in these five new devices. As the DAW is the centre of our music-making, everything depends on that DAW to be excellent at handling VSTs and the sequencer must be excellent at providing intuitive options for a fast workflow. Maybe this will finally be the time when VST midi out and a much-needed update to the sequencer will be provided.
Still a great tool as a sound source ❤️, especially as plugin in Ableton Live, because it has a limited sequencer and also limited mixing possibilities.
I’m excited to work with reason 13,i been a fan since 2.5,and I used most of them, and I’m on reasons, the other daws make me feel like I’m reading a book, reasons is fun and easy to use like my home entertainment stereo system
they should better work on bugs which became the staple of Abelton, Live became a tool for Youtube musicians, not pros or especially live performers.
If that sequencer-screenshot is all what is new to the sequencer, that this update is a sad joke. A terrible joke. But let’s think positively for now, that they have come to their senses and it will be a great update.
Long live Reason 5 (before that added that ridiculous excuse for an SSL mixer) this ruined everything and no one wants to admit it. Reason was simple and GREAT because you just had a 16 channel mixer running and it was ENOUGH (but the sky was the limit) i am 100% convinced Reason doesn’t care about its users based on ALL of the new features added since 5. More isn’t always better. Reason was THEE all-in-one solution and because they screwed this up SO badly, they had to make plugin versions INSTEAD of just FIXING what needed to be fixed. Make that mixer OPTIONAL. Give us the Reason EVERYONE could dive into. Now it’s just upgrades that are actually PAID update cash-grabs that no one is really interested in (at their core) But hey…what do I know? Only been doing this since 1996.
VST midi out please.
wow REASONS MUST NOT BE Worth IT
