Released last year, version 12 offered many new things including the Mimic creative sampler. The instrument homes in on the fun and creative side of working with samples. It combines Reason’s time stretching and beat slicing with a granular engine. There are four sampling modes (Pitch, Slice, Multi Slot, and Multi Pitch). Mimic has a very synth-like layout with direct access to the sound shaping parameters, such as filter, envelopes and LFO.
Another important feature is the new high-resolution interface. The entire Rack and all third-party extensions automatically adapt to your screen’s resolution and you can zoom at will. There’s more! The Combinator has also been updated with a new panel editor making it easy to create custom interfaces. Also, the updated browser now displays search results instantly.
