Reason Studios ReCycle: The Legendary Loop Tool is back and it’s Free
Prepare your Audio Loops in Classic Style with ReCycle.
Over 30 years after its release, Reason Studios ReCycle returns to the fray as freeware. Long live this versatile loop editing software!
If you aren’t part of the ReCycle generation, you have a long life ahead of you. Introduced back in 1994, the software allowed users to edit audio loops and make changes while preserving the original tempo.
Reason Studios ReCycle
To commemorate the re-launch of ReCycle, Reason Studios is running a beat battle competition hosted by Don Cannon, the vice president of A&R at Def Jam Recordings. “ReCycle the Beat” encourages participants to put their production skills to the test for the chance to win a full year Reason+ subscription.
As a forerunner in audio manipulation, ReCycle became an essential tool for producers in sample-based music styles like Hip-Hop and House. Regardless of which DAW or sampler you used, ReCycle’s audio engine and straightforward interface provided a simple solution for tailoring loops to fit your productions.
Later on, ReCycle also became a part of Reason’s workflow, as it could be used to create loop files for the Dr. Rex sampler instrument. Today, ReCycle is a gift to the global beat production community, compatible with all the latest OS versions and chipsets on the Mac and Windows platforms.

We’re thrilled to make ReCycle accessible to everyone. It’s a piece of music software history, and we believe it still has a lot to offer today’s creative minds.
