The RME Fireface 802 FS AE interface and ARC remote controller are now available in a special edition black finish, to match your wardrobe.

We’ve seen the black editions introduced in the ADI-2 range of high-end converters, but now you can get the trusty Fireface 802 recording interface in black too. It looks fantastic, and the $100 price difference is relatively normal for a special edition.

With this new update, the RME Fireface 802 FS retains all the features from its popular predecessor, while adding essential updates to standards and compatibility features.

If you’ve seen, used, or owned an 802 you’ll know these audio interfaces are widely used due to their versatility and the quality of the 4 discrete microphone preamps on the front panel, as well as its excellent headphone preamplifier.

The 802 FS functions in two modes: a USB 2 mode which relies on OS-specific drivers, and a Class Compliant mode which is supported by Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux without drivers being required.

The line-level outputs on the rear panel are now fully DC-coupled. This means you can send control voltage and gate signals to respective audio equipment and synthesizers from your DAW system.

In addition, RME has brought its SteadyClock FS technology to the 802, so you can expect the most stable audio conversion of the highest quality.

The 802 FS no longer supports Firewire, and instead provides a USB port for the ARC USB Remote Control for easy navigation of the TotalMix FX software.

Overall, the 802 FS remains one of the best interfaces available in its price range and beyond, instantly transforming your home studio into a more professional audio setup.

Finally! Been waiting for the 802 to get the FS converters. Too bad the price has almost doubled since 5-6 years ago.
