Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2 – More low, more now?
An updated version of this popular bass DI pedal
The Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2 Pedal is the new version of the company’s popular bass DI pedal. It replaces the original version which has now been discontinued.
Extended range
Essentially, this is the same pedal just with added control for modern five- and six-string bass guitars. When the original Sansamp Bass Driver came out these types of lower register instruments were not as popular as they are today. Tech 21 have addressed this by adding a Mid control with a frequency sweep as well as a new bass frequency switch to extend into those lower registers. The idea is that you can use this new version on your regular 4-string bass and also on a heavier weight 6-string and still get a great DI’d tone.
I’ve owned a Tech 21 Sansamp or two in my lifetime and they are really handy and easy to use DI boxes and amp simulator pedals. I can imagine this will be really popular with bass players. The company’s reputation for this kind of product is well known, so they should be well made and very useful. They are due for release on 24th August, so we should hear reports from players pretty soon on how well this new updated version performs.
