Schecter debuts Corsair, PT Fastback, Tempest Custom and C-1 Exotic models
Schecter Guitar Research has just released a whole slew of new guitars including the Corsair, PT Fastback, Tempest Custom and C-1 Exotic Spalted Maple model.
Schecter Guitar Research Corsair
The Corsair is based on the previous Corsair Custom series that’s been expanded with new finishes and set at a lower price. It’s designed around a maple body with a three-piece mahogany ‘C’ shape neck with a 14″ radius and an ebony fretboard fitted with 22 medium frets. The scale length is 24.75” and the tuners are Grover Rotomatic with an 18:1 ratio.
Looking at the hardware, the Corsair has a Schecter Vintage Tremolo that can be adjusted to set the height and position you want with a set screw adjustment. The guitar has a pair of Diamond 78 pickups wired via dual volume and push/pull tone knobs with a coil split feature. This model comes in Gloss Black, Gloss Natural and Gold Top finishes.
RRP – USD 1429
PT Fastback
Next up is Schechter’s PT Fastback model. This is a more T-flavoured twin humbucker model. Those pickups are the Schecter Diamond UltraTron, wired via dual volume and push/pull tone knobs that can split the coils. The neck is a thin ‘C’ shape with a 25.5” scale length and a 14” radius loaded with 22 X-Jumbo frets. The hardware includes a Graph Tech XL nut and Grover tuners.
The PT Fastback is available with two different body woods. The alder body version is available in Olympic White and Gloss Black finishes classic block inlays with a maple neck, alder body and classic edge binding. Or as a Gold Top with a mahogany body and ebony fretboard, this also has blocks and binding.
RRP – USD 869
Tempest Custom
The Tempest Custom is another reissue of an old favourite from the company’s back catalogue. It has a pair of Schecter’s USA Pasadena Plus humbucking pickups with coil tap option. The three-piece set-in mahogany neck has carbon fibre reinforcement rods for extra stability as well as pearloid split crown inlays. The ebony fretboard has 22 X-Jumbo frets. The finishes on offer include Gloss Black, Faded Vintage Sun Burst and Vintage White
RRP – USD 1569
C-1 Exotic Spalted Maple
Last up is the C-1 Exotic Spalted Maple. This has a natural vintage burst spalted maple top on a mahogany body. It’s factory fitted with a Wilkinson WVS50 II K Tremolo bridge and a set of Schecter locking tuners. The pickups are a set of Schecter ’78 models, which are supposedly more vintage-flavoured.
This model has a 25.5” scale length neck, with an ebony fretboard loaded with 22 jumbo frets.
RRP – USD 1149
You can follow the link below to read more about these new models from Schecter. There are some interesting guitars in amongst these new releases I think are worth checking out in more detail. Personally, I quite like the PT Fastback model, as it sounds like a hot-rodded Telecaster Custom, which is always a good thing.
