Inspired by the classic AKG C414, this series of sE mics now has two new more compact, and affordable options. The sE4100 and T1 are basically cardioid-only versions of the multipattern sE4400 and T2 mics.

The sE4100 and T1 carry all the key features over from their multipattern counterparts. This includes the same hand-built dual 1-inch gold and titanium-sputtered brass capsules, as well as pad and high-pass filter switches.

More Information

While not every studio requires a multipattern mic, this makes the sE4100 and T1 the perfect workhorse condenser in any home or pro studio. Like the C414, it will produce excellent results on vocals, acoustic guitars, pianos, amp cabinets, and when used in drum overhead configurations.

The difference between the two mics is, of course, T1’s titanium-coated capsule which allows faster transient response, according to sE Electronics. Therefore, you’ll get improved results when capturing upright bass, drums, and other percussion instruments.

The two new additions are identically priced, and both have stereo pair options. Overall, this is an extremely competitive series of microphones and a must-have if you’re looking for a C414 alternative.
