Seymour Duncan HyperSwitch: Bluetooth control for your pickups
Access hundreds of pickup configurations via Bluetooth
The Seymour Duncan HyperSwitch uses Bluetooth technology to connect to their app. This allows guitarists to access potentially hundreds of pickup wiring configurations from the custom 5-way switch.
HyperSwitch
Seymour Duncan’s HyperSwitch could very well be a game-changer for tone chasers. This active 5-way blade switch is compatible with most passive pickups. Including single-coil and humbucking pickups.
Bluetooth
The custom switch talks to the accompanying app via Bluetooth and allows players to design, store, and recall custom pickup configurations. Allowing for potentially hundreds of permutations from a three-humbucker setup.
This new HyperSwitch app is available on the Apple App Store for iOS devices and the Google Play Store for Android devices.
The app allows users to split pickup coils, reverse polarity and also assign pickups to any position on the five-way blade switch. And all without having to open your guitar and rewire the pickups. Which could be a time saver for a lot of guitarists, especially if you don’t enjoy soldering.
Battery
HyperSwitch runs on a standard 9V battery which must be above 60% power to reliably connect to the app. This isn’t a massive issue for many guitarists and it would still be easier to change a battery once in a while. Rather than having to rewire a guitar to change pickup configurations.
I like the idea and am looking forward to seeing and hearing these in action. The system also looks very easy to install which makes it very appealing.

I… don’t get it. You can already have so many possibilities with a 5way switch and a couple of push-pull… why add bluetooth ?
Way more flexible, with less wiring and custom pickup wiring on the fly. Potentially, far more control/variation, with less faff and maybe even lessless noise?
Anyone know what’s inside? A bluetooth-capable microcontroller like the ESP32 and a crosspoint switch?
