Shergold Masquerader SM01-SD Ltd Ed Tango Fandango: Bright finish, flexible tones
The futures bright
With its, ahem, subtle orange finish, the new Shergold Masquerader SM01-SD Ltd Ed Tango Fandango will certainly turn heads!
Shergold Masquerader SM01-SD Ltd Ed Tango Fandango
Shergold’s new Masquerader models were designed in conjunction with British luthier Patrick Eggle, whose name you may remember from our coverage on the Provocateur model back in May.
This latest limited edition comes in a rather over-the-top Tango Fandango finish. Underneath the bright exterior is a mahogany body, paired with a rosewood neck and a 12-inch-radius rosewood fingerboard. Just like the regular version of the guitar, you also get those aluminium-lined inlays on the fretboard, which I think really stand out from the crowd.
The Tango Fandango finish is set off nicely with a black Bakelite scratch plate. The guitar comes fitted with staggered locking tuners and a Patrick Eggle-designed Shergold custom T bridge.
Seymour Duncan
The Masquerader SM01-SD is fitted with a pair of Seymour Duncan pickups: a SP90 in the neck and TB4 in the bridge position. They are wired via a three-way switch to a master volume and tone controls. The latter has a push/pull knob to you coil-split, giving you more tones on tap.
The colour will not be for everyone – you will always stand out from the crowd when you play a bright orange guitar! Feature-wise, it has all you need if you want a hard tail guitar with versatile pickup switching.
This is a limited run, so it won’t be around forever. But you should have no problem noticing it at your local guitar store! Check out the official Shergold Guitars video demo of the standard coloured version below.
RRP – GBP 765
