What if I said it’s not like the others? This new Limited Edition Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe certainly isn’t. Compared to earlier iterations of Chris Shiflett’s signature guitar from Fender, this model ups the ante quite a bit.
Fender LTD Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe: Darkota Red and Charcoal Frost Metallic
Foo Fighters lead guitarist Chris Shiflett has worked with Fender on signature guitars for quite a while now, but it’s never been as deluxe as this model. This new Fender LTD Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe comes in two stunning colours: Dakota Red or Charcoal Frost Metallic.
These Made-in-USA guitars with alder bodies and bolt-on maple necks (Custom Oval “C” profile) sure seem like some of the most luxurious t-models on the market. You also get a rosewood fingerboard with white pearloid block inlays, and 21 Medium jumbo frets.
Custom Noiseless CS-90s
It’s all pretty standard with a bone nut (42 mm radius) and a 25.5 (648 mm) scale. But in terms of hardware, this Fender LTD Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe is just a marvelous guitar. You get a pure vintage 6-saddle hardtail bridge with bent steel saddles and a string guide through the body, pure vintage Fender “F”-stamped machine heads – all nickel and chrome.
This model also comes with two Custom Chris Shiflett “Cleaver” Noiseless CS-90 single coils, based on P-90s, but Chris’ own take on these pickups. Each pickup has dedicated volume and tone controls with a three-way switch to change or combine them.
Price and Availability
The two colours of this limited edition are now available at Thomann. The Fender LTD Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe in Dakota Red* costs 2,799 euros, just like the Fender LTD Shiflett Telecaster Deluxe in Charcoal Frost Metallic*. Each model comes with a brown vintage-style case, including a Chris Shiflett Signature Graphic.

I really like the look of these. Not in the market for a new guitar right now as I have way too many but these would be high on my list to try out.
