What Sire Guitars, together with Larry Carlton and Marcus Miller have achieved in terms of quality at these prices is pretty much the best you can get in the lower mid-range segment, especially from bass legend Miller. And this is where the V6 Series comes in. It sits in between the V5 and V7, with one striking visual change – no pickguard!

It’s a bit of an oddity for J-style basses. They look so… naked?! Sire uses a mahogany body with a swamp ash top and bolt-on maple neck (C-profile), with either dark rosewood or light maple fretboard. Four-string and five-string models are available, all in an elegant matte sandblasted finish. The pickups are a pair of Marcus Super-J Revolution single-coils, with Marcus Heritage 3 active electronics.

The usual straight arrangement of the controls is also broken up at V6. It now follows the contour of the body , as we’ve seen in the modern series. For controls, you get a volume/tone control, a blend control for mixing the two pickup signals, a treble and midrange control, and a bass control with push/pull functionality to switch from actie to passive mode. The new V6 series is now available from Thomann*. There are also a few left-handed models!

Let’s briefly take a look at the new P6 models, Prezi-style, because in many ways this update resembles the new V6 series. Here, too, the pickguard is missing, and there are four- and five-string models, some with a rosewood fingerboard, some with a maple, all in a sandblasted look.

Mahogany body, swamp ash top – much of the same as in the V6 models. For pickups, there’s a Marcus Super PJ Revolution single-coil on the bridge and a Marcus Super PJ Revolution split-coil on the neck. You can find the new P6 series models here at Thomann*.

Marcus Miller 2025: M6 Multiscale Headless Bass

Sire Guitars and Marcus Miller are also going with the times with the new M6 Modern Series. It’s the first headless model with a multiscale layout in the series, a growing trend among many guitar makers. So if you’ve been missing a real prog bass in Sire’s bass range, look no further than the Marcus Miller 2025 M6 Series.

Two colours – black or mahogany satin – three string setups (4, 5 and 6), ash body, bolt-on neck (C-profile) in maple and mahogany, rosewood fretboard, two Marcus Miller Pure-H humbuckers – it’s a very solid package! On top of that, you get 24 frets in multiscale format – the scale length is between 33″ and 34.5″.

With five pots and three switches, Sire remains true to the M-series. You get a volume / tone control, a blend control and a three-band EQ (treble, midrange and bass). The pickups are combined using the three two-way switches. These models of the M6 series from Marcus Miller 2025 are available at Thomann*.
