Solar Guitars has announced the release of the GC1.6GK, a new signature guitar designed by guitarist George Kapa. It looks pretty tasty in the white and blue colour scheme.

The striking Type-G Singlecut model’s finish is inspired by American muscle cars, while its white and blue colour scheme pays homage to Kapa’s Greek heritage. I like it, as it stands out from the usual somewhat dull black and solid colours we often see on modern metal guitars.

Seymour Duncan Pickups

This guitar’s innovation is at the heart of its unique pickup configuration featuring a Seymour Duncan SH16 Custom Hybrid and SHPR1 N P-Rails. This combination, paired with a simple three-way switch and push/pull tone knob, allows players to switch between classic P90 and humbucker tones effortlessly.

“With this neck pickup, it’s like having two pickups in one,” says Kapa. “Switching from a classic P90 sound to a humbucker is all I need for that extra versatility.”

I like this pickup combination, as it should offer a good selection of classic tones, and it has plenty of variety. There is one volume, one tone (push/pull) and a three-way pickup selector switch.

“The GC1.6GK embodies the spirit of Mediterranean rock and roll; We’re proud to partner with George Kapa to create a guitar that delivers both stunning aesthetics and unparalleled playability.”Solar Guitars.
