Ola Englund’s Solar Guitars has just announced the RELIK Series, and the guitars are pre-worn (some might say thrashed) by their Chop Shop in Spain.
RELIK Series
Solar Guitars has entered the world of ‘aged guitars’ or, as they have named them, RELIK Series models. These guitars, crafted at the company’s Spanish Chop Shop facility, feature a highly distressed finish that mimics the worn-in appearance of a decades-old instrument.
Thrashed
They look like they just about survived the Bayside Thrash era of the late 80s and that they should smell of stale beer and Marlboros. However, these (as we all know) are brand-new high-performance shred guitars equipped with some sweet hardware.
Ola Approved
As Solar Guitars founder Ola Englund explains, “We’ve been talking about doing distressed finishes for a while. But when I saw and played what the team in Spain had achieved, I was blown away. We immediately decided to put these guitars into production.”
Distressed Shredders
These models are designed for chugging and thrashing with the best of them, so they have the perfect setup for modern players.
Once the distressing is complete, the guitars are assembled with a roasted maple 3-piece neck, Solar locking tuners, a Floyd Rose 1000 tremolo, high-quality pickups, and copper shielding. Experienced luthiers meticulously set up each instrument to meet the demands of professional stage and studio use.
They are fitted with a Solar Modern Alnico 5 bridge pickup and Duncan Solar Dual Rail neck pickup and wired with Volume/Tone Push-Pull Series/Parallel pots and a five-way selector switch.
The RELIK series comes in a custom-fitted MCAS ABS molded TSA flight-ready case and a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Ola Englund and the luthier who assembled the guitar.
They are available in White and Carbon Black custom RELIK finishes.
