SolidGold FX 76 MKII Octave Up Fuzz revealed
Silicon Octave Fuzz
SolidGoldFX 76 MKII is billed as an Octave Up Fuzz and adds even more rip-roaring fuzz tones to this silicon-based fuzz. Inspired by the Ibanez Standard Fuzz circuit.
76 MKII Octave Up Fuzz
This 76 MKII Octave Up Fuzz from SolidGold FX is the company’s latest incarnation of this silicon-based fuzz pedal. The original circuit is based on the Ibanez Standard Fuzz but has been refined. Based on a JFET input and built using a specific set of Toshiba transistors, the 76 MKII offers some precise ways to sculpt your fuzz tone.
Tone Sculpting
With two independent Texture and Color tone stacks, this design really allows the fuzz tone to be tweaked to perfection. That Texture control sweeps the mid-range, so you can find your sweet spot. Then there is the Octave bypass switch, so you can skip that octave-up effect if you so desire.
Elsewhere, the pedal has the obligatory Level and Fuzz controls. Set these to taste and off you go.
It works equally well on both guitar and bass, making it a great buy for a lot of musicians. Having that octave-up effect on hand is great. And it makes this one very versatile fuzz pedal.
Modern Features
With soft-touch relay true bypass switching and top-mounted jacks, this fuzz pedal has all the modern facilities that guitarists expect. It also runs via a 9V DC power supply, unlike many vintage fuzz designs.
Yes, it is a modern fuzz pedal, yet it certainly has a vintage flavour in all the demo videos that I have heard. Making it potentially a great fuzz pedal choice for the modern guitarist. As ever, the SolidGoldFX 76 MKII is built by hand in Montreal, Canada. So expect great build quality and good value for your money.
MSRP – USD 199

Yet another fuzz? How many fuzz pedals does the market need? Refined, they say? Fancy word for adding a knob. About everything that can be done with fuzz has been done before. It seems another fuzz pedal is launched every day, it’s quite a crowded market. Flashy colours/graphics and weird names wont help these companies in the end imo.
Yeah, but fuzz is one of the best guitar effects ever!
Yeah but they all sound the same 🙂
Amazing! The world truly needs is more Fuzz pedals!
