Artifakt Lo-Fi Elements

Combing seven lo-fi and glitch effects into one dedicated pedal is what the new Source Audio Artifakt Lo-Fi Elements is all about. Each effect has its own dedicated control, so, in theory, this pedal could be simple.

Lo-Fi Effect Engines

With the Radio engine, users can explore the crackle and whoosh of vintage radios. Or dial in the warmth and imperfections of tape with the Tape engine, with saturation, flutter, and pitch modulation.

However, it also offers lo-fi reverb sounds with the µVerb and lo-fi decimation via the Crush engine. It also features Ladder Filter sweeps inspired by the Moog MF-101 synthesizer and a Vinyl engine, which adds crackle, pops, and subtle pitch variations.

Finally, the Glitch engine creates rhythmic, stutter effects reminiscent of the effects I would associate with companies like Chase Bliss.

Neuro 3

Source Audio’s Neuro 3 software, a free editing platform, provides a simple way of tweaking parameters, chaining effects, and saving creations for instant recall.

The pedal also integrates MIDI on TRS In and Thru Jacks for use with larger, more complex setups. It has 16 selectable presets on the pedal as standard and 128 via MIDI.

Connectivity also includes stereo inputs and outputs, an expression pedal input, and a USB-C port for connecting to Neuro 3.0. It also features selectable Active Analog or True Bypass switching modes.

MSRP – USD 349

Verdict

If you love that lo-fi sound and want to achieve it on the move, this could be a simple way to achieve many effects. Having up to 128 presets on hand could also make this a handy tool for power users.
