Spark NEO is the latest announcement from Positive Grid and promises an AI-powered wireless guitar rig in headphone format. Could these be the perfect practice system for guitar players?
Spark NEO
These Spark NEO headphones combine the award-winning AI-powered ‘smart amp technology’ of the Spark amp with true wireless freedom.
Developed specifically for guitarists, Spark NEO delivers what they describe as optimal sound and feel, packing an entire rig of 33 amps and 43 effects into your headphones.
Spark App
Positive Grid states that the Spark NEO will deliver rich, detailed, and balanced sound thanks to a meticulously designed system, from the Spark app to custom-engineered drivers.
They have the whole Spark ecosystem behind them, which has been in development for many years, so we know there will be plenty of amp and effect models to choose from.
Custom Drivers
The headphones are custom-engineered 40mm drivers, and Positive Grid uses advanced bio-fiber diaphragms. The proof will be in how comfortable they are and how well they convey the sound, which is hard to gauge without trying them. However, I would guess they will be good quality, as most Spark products have a certain quality to the sound, which users have come to enjoy over the years.
Wireless or Wired
Ditch the cables with Spark NEO’s 2.4GHz wireless system. Just plug in the transmitter, and you’re good to go. There’s no fuss, no wires. It’s supposedly super responsive so that you won’t notice the difference. Positive Grid states they work great with electric, acoustic, and bass guitars too. Plus, it pairs instantly, so you can focus on playing.
Old-school? No problem. Spark NEO also has a regular 1/4″ input for your standard guitar cable. Users can also use them as a standard set of Bluetooth headphones for listening to music.
The headphones have Volume, Preset, Power, and Wireless On/Off controls. Most of the control is done on the accompanying app, which allows users to dial in their amp and effect tones.

For some strange reason, I was interested in this. Until I saw it has functions missing, such as loop and jam.
