With Steinberg Cubase 14, the popular DAW system now features a range of new creative music production plug-ins and audio editing tools.
Cubase remains one of the finest DAW systems available, whether you’re doing pop or film music production and mixing. Now in version 14, Steinberg has included a range of improvements to current features and new elements that are influenced by other DAW systems.
Steinberg Cubase 14: What’s New?
The first exciting addition, which is only available to Pro users, is the new Modulators. These 6 new tools seem to be inspired by Bitwig Studio, giving you new creative ways to control any plug-in parameter. The new modulators include the LFO, Envelope, Shaper, Macro Knob, Step Modulator, and ModScripter, each with its own specialized application for sound creation, mixing, and more.
Next, is the new Pattern Sequencer, which is available to both Cubase Artist and Pro users. This full-featured step sequencer gives you a method for shaping new ideas with a refreshingly different approach to your piano roll orientated MIDI sequencer. Any Instrument, Sampler, Drum, or MIDI track can use the Pattern Sequencer, as long as you select the Pattern Event type.
The new Drum Machine and Drum Track type is another great feature for Artist and Pro users. When using a Drum track, you can sequence it with traditional MIDI, or the new Pattern Sequencer. Much like Ableton Live’s Drum Rack, the drum machine lets you create kits from your own sample library, but there’s also a wide range of preset kits to start creating beats right away.
Cubase 14 also comes with some creative sound design tools like the new Shimmer and Studio Delay plug-in. While Shimmer helps you create dimensional modulation effects with detail and depth, the new Studio Delay is an advanced tool for building rich echo effects and soundscapes.
In addition, there is also a considerable upgrade to the Score Editor and some great new audio editing improvements in the form of Event Volume Curves and upgrades to the Media Bay and Range Tool.
