Stream is a creative granulizer plug-in inspired by Eurorack equipment
Delta Sound Labs may be better known as a manufacturer of Eurorack modules, ones inspired by greats like Buchla, ARP, and Oberheim. Stream, however, is a plug-in for your DAW, and it has more to do with in-the-box audio mangling than your wall of modular.
Delta Sound Labs Stream
By nature, Stream is a granulizer with up to 16 voices that’s able to capture and manipulate audio. It features three envelopes – Triangle, Gaussian, and Noise. There is also time stretching/scrubbing, as well as MIDI buffer sequencing and re-pitching.
All that audio mangling potential is contained within a clean, accessible user interface. There’s a great-looking waveform visualizer, followed by four sections. The ‘IN’ section lets you adjust drive and buffer size, as well as capture and clear audio.
‘GRAINS’ is where you take the scalpel to your audio by adjusting the number of voices, grain size, spread, and jitter. The last two are the aforementioned envelopes and an ‘OUT’ section that lets you blend the manipulated signal with the original audio to taste.
All in all, Stream is sleek and very creative. For USD 50, it might just brighten up a boring afternoon being spent before an empty Ableton project.
