[27 September 2024] I think you better sit down for this. Turns out Suonobuono Polyvera is a six-voice digital/analog hybrid wavetable synth/sampler with effects, loopable envelope and a binaural mode.

Suonobuono Polyvera: Gimme the Details

At the beginning of the month, we told you about Suonobuono Polyvera, a new desktop synth from the Italian/Swedish developer. Now that Roma Modulare is underway, we have some details about the synth – and it looks very intriguing.

Wavetables and Samples

The Polyvera will have six voices with two oscillators each. As we guessed, these are digital oscillators but they’re a little more involved than that. According to the company’s home page, oscillator one is a wavetable oscillator with a sub oscillator, while oscillator two can be a wavetable oscillator or a sampler. The oscillator section also has FM, sync, ring modulation and a noise generator. Additionally, it’s possible to load your own wavetables via an SD card.

As for samples, the Polyvera offers an internal library plus actual sampling through the audio in jacks with 60 seconds of sample time.

Analog Filter

Next, the audio passes through an analog filter. Can you say hybrid synth? It features eight filter types, including original and “classic chip” designs. The filter is resonant and self-oscillating and also features drive, post-filter distortion and FM.

In terms of modulation, there’s an eight-slot mod matrix, three LFOs and one loopable multimode modulation envelope.

It has effects – two sections – with chorus, delay and phaser in one and multiple reverb types in the other. You can also affect incoming audio (and then sample with effects?).

Lastly, there’s a “classic” arpeggiator, sequencer with 32 polyphonic steps and panel control automation, MPE control and a binaural mode.

There’s no price or availability mentioned yet. This sounds like a very interesting instrument. We’re looking forward to hearing more.

Suonobuono Polyvera: New Polyphonic Synth Coming Soon!

[3 September 2024] Suonobuono Polyvera is a new polyponic desktop synth that will be revealed at the upcoming Roma Modulare show in Italy later this month. While the developer has yet to share the details, we can already make a few guesses based on the teaser image and video. What will Polyvera have to offer?

Suonobuono Polyvera

Suonobuono, an Italian-born developer living and working in Sweden, made a name for himself with devices like the nABC sidechain compressor and the Lazer gesture controller. For Roma Modulare, he has now announced a much bigger project. While we don’t know much about Polyvera yet, the only image available so far does reveal a few details.

More Information

It looks like the synth will offer two oscillators per voice. Judging by the teaser video, I assume they’re digital, but let’s wait for the full details before jumping to conclusions. In addition, there seems to be a sample-based sound source of some sort, although we don’t yet know what it’ll be capable of.

The filter section has knobs for filter type, cutoff, resonance, and FM. There’s also a drive knob, as well as key tracking and two modulation sources.

For modulation, Polyvera seems to be equipped with three ADSR envelopes. Moreover, the “LFO3” LED suggests that there are at least three LFOs sharing a common set of controls.

In addition to this, the synth offers an arpeggiator and sequencer, as well as two effects processors.

I think the sounds in the short teaser video are quite lovely. Stay tuned as we’ll find out morewhen Roma Modulare opens its doors on September 27, 2024.
