Superbooth 2021: LEAK! ASM Hydrasynth Explorer
Leaked via a Russian website ASM appears to be releasing a compact 37-note and battery-powered version of the Hydrasynth wavetable synthesizer.
Hydrasynth Explorer
At first glance, it doesn’t look that different. It definitely has that Hydrasynth vibe going on with the button array on the right and those impressive-looking knobs and display. But on closer inspection, they’ve removed quite a bit of the front panel controls to shrink the Explorer down to more portable levels.
According to the united-music.ru page Explorer offers the same 8-voice sound engine but in a compact and battery-powered form factor. The 37 note, while looking like small keys, is a PolyTouch keybed featuring polyphonic aftertouch.
The specifications of the sound engine appear to be the same although the way the oscillators are described is not exactly consistent with what’s on the ASM website for the Hydrasynth. But on the whole the Hydrasynth Explorer looks like you get all the power, all the wavetables and modulation in a smaller and more mobile form.
Looking forward to all the details. ASM are in booth W295 at Superbooth.
