Superbooth 2021: Loopman Eurorack experimental casssette recorder
It’s nuts but somehow completely genius. Loopman Eurorack is a cassette-based tape loop for Eurorack. Undoubtedly best of Superbooth 2021 and it hasn’t started yet.
Loopman Eurorack
What is it? It’s a Eurorack version of the Error Instruments Loopman which is a wonderfully weird cassette recorder for making tape loops and generally messing about with sound. They said that it was so popular they decided to pump out a Eurorack version. This thing would look fantastic and/or ridiculous in anybody’s rack.
The idea is that you can record directly onto cassette tape and have it playback in response to a Gate input with CV controllable speed. It has an audio output and a thru for bypassing the tape. There’s a light-sensitive sensor to make the sound “extra weebly” whatever that may mean. The original has a built-in microphone and also a radio tuner but it’s unclear as to whether these made it to the Eurorack version.

Error Instruments can also provide 5-second loop cassettes and have been inviting people to create 5-second loopable content.
I think this is fantastic and I’m putting in an order plus a handful of cassettes as soon as it becomes available. The original loopman is €275 and the tapes are €10 but we’ve no official price on the Eurorack version yet.
To give you an idea about what it can do here’s a video on the original Loopman:
