SoundForce SFC-8 Jupiter-8 controller is now ready to ship
The SFC-8 MIDI controller for virtual Jupiter-8 plugins is now ready to ship. We also saw the new compact uDCO oscillator and the S-LD 6-channel LinnDrum module.
Update 20/12/2022:
SFC-8 ready to ship. It’s taken its good sweet time but finally, the SFC-8 is good to go and be the hardware controller for your software Jupiter-8s. The price is €499.
SFC-8
Original article from 11th of May 2022. We first saw the SFC-8 back in 2020, but it’s never quite made it to market. At this year’s Superbooth SoundForce has an updated version. It’s designed to be a specific MIDI controller for software synths based on the Roland Jupiter-8, such as Arturia’s Jup-8 V and TAL-J-8, but it will happily work with plenty of other hardware.
It has USB-MIDI and 5-pin MIDI In and Out so it can support a keyboard or sequencer. The MIDI messages are merged with the controller data to give a smooth controlling experience.
SFC-8 offers an intuitive hardware interface to give these plugins a hardware experience. It feels extravagant but also looks fantastic.
uDCO
We caught a sneak preview of this compact version of the DCO oscillator a month ago but is now ready to go. The uDCO has all the same features of the Roland Juno-60/106 inspired oscillator but squeezed down to 10HP. However, it removed the FM attenuator and tweaked the PWM. The roomy sliders have also been replaced with mini pots.
The uDCO will ship by the end of May for €259.
S-LD
SoundForce is adding to their range of sample-based drum modules with a take on the LinnDrum. The S-LD is a 6-channel drum module. You get kick, snare and hi-hat in the top three jacks and then you can choose between toms or percussion for the bottom three. It’s just a sample player and doesn’t have any controls or CV over anything. S-LD is for when you just want those sounds.
