Supro Royale 1×12 combo, a 50W tube amplifier with super cleans
The Supro Royale specialises on great clean headroom
The new 50W Supro Royale is designed with plenty of clean headroom, a powerful EQ and a footswitchable boost. With both Class A nd Class AB modes on offer, each with its own distinct character.
Supro Royale
The Supro Royale 1×12 combo has a choice of either Class A 35W or Class AB 50W operation, and was designed to offer great clean headroom. The amp also features a tube powered effects loop, a powerful EQ section, plus a footswitchable boost. Powered by three 12AX7, a 12AT7, and a 12DW7 in the preamp section, and two 5881 power tubes, this combo has some pretty sweet tonal options, for those that appreciate a good clean tone.
Class A vs Class AB
According to Supro, the Class A mode on the Royale offers a more traditional, cathode-biased Supro sound with a bold, spongy midrange. Whereas in Class AB mode, it delivers a grid-biased California sound with a more scooped mid-range, tighter bass and a faster transient response.
With controls for Volume, Boost, Treble, Mid, Bass, Reverb Level, Reverb Dwell and Master, this little combo has plenty of options to sculpt your tone. The Supro website also states that it has a powerful EQ section, so I’m expecting a great amp for tweaking.
The combo is fitted with a custom Supro BD12 speaker, uses polar construction and comes in a very nice looking vintage-style Black Scandia tolex with a hemp grille cloth. You also have an effects loop on the rear panel. It seems like a great little combo amp. Especially for those looking to get some nice clean tones, and adding delays to them, etc.
The official demo video below has some very tasty tones, so make sure to take a listen. Hopefully, we might see this as a separate head and cab version at some point in the future.
RRP – USD 1499
