Takamine 2025: Cool Finishes, Ltd Edition and a 12 String!
The Takamine 2025 models are here! With 7 models to choose from, there’s plenty on offer. Boasting a 12 string and an evergreen finished limited model.
Takamine LTD2025
The first model to come out of the Takamine 2025 release is the LTD2025. Taking their annual limited edition slot, this is a gracious OM cutaway with smooth Hawaiian koa back and sides.
We’ve got a lightweight and visually impressive carbon bridge which really compliments the Gloss Antique Evergreen finish. Aside from the rare and exuberant body materials, we’ve got your typical mahogany neck housing an ebony fingerboard. Upon which sit 20 frets.
Complete with a CTF-2N pickup system and premium materials, this Takamine LTD2025 commands quite the premium. However, it aims to deliver a sparkling top end in addition to sweet low tones.
GF49CE CB
Another model with cool visuals, this Takamine GF49CE CB aims to look back at their 80’s heritage.
This FX-sized cutaway is finished in Cosmic Black with a sparkle in the finish. I especially like the red binding which wraps its way around both the body and the headstock.
With a sleek set-in mahogany neck and an Indian laurel fingerboard, you’ll have a comfortable acoustic with some bright tones. This time, amplification comes thanks to a Takamine TP-3G Preamp along with bass, middle and treble controls.
NEX Cutaways
Two similar models, both the GN48CE in Pearl White and the GN73CE in satin black feature NEX cutaways. Plus, they share the same rosewood fingerboards despite contrasting fret inlays.
Both aimed at being used on stage, Takamine claims that the Satin Black model would look great at your local speakeasy. Is prohibition still going 100 years on? With a solid spruce top, it’ll be nice and loud.
The Pearl White example is pretty bland by comparison with your traditional dot inlays and a totally maple body. However, it will be a lot smoother than its counterpart. Both benefit from the TP-3G electronics.
12 String Dreadnaught
Now we come to my favourite model from the Takamine 2025 release. A 644mm scale length, 12 string acoustic with flamed maple back and sides. Nice!
The spruce top shows off the interesting binding on the body and contrasts the flamed maple. I’m not a fan of the tortoise shell pickguard. I’m no vegan, I’ve never appreciated or understood the visual aspect.
At the other end, we’re working with Gold / Pearl machine head tuners and a 47.5mm nut width. Just like the rest of the Takamine 2025 releases, it comes with a gig bag. Although, this 12-string much more expensive than I’d have expected.
Pricing and Availability
Overall, these Takamine 2025 models are competitively priced compared to others on the market. You can forgive the LTD2025 for commanding such a high premium, what limited guitar doesn’t?
As with most of these NAMM releases, Thomann claim that these guitars will be up for grabs in a couple of months.
