TC captures the EMT 250 reverb in plug-in + hardware controller form
TC Electronic has continued its TC ICON software-hardware integration journey by resurrecting another classic unit in the series, the DVR250-DT reverb. The classic EMT 250 Electronic Reverbator is now a plug-in for your DAW which you control with a dedicated desktop controller that closely resembles the original vintage hardware. It’s a fantastic concept which makes plug-ins fun again while paying homage to the studio greats!
The EMT 250 is a versatile unit used by musicians ranging from Kendrick Lamar to Brian Eno. It supposedly sounds great on everything, including lead vocals, synths, drum hits, percussion and anything in-between. TC has seized the chance to improve the functionality with additional effects: delay, phaser, chorus, echo, and space. It also added custom signature presets from famous producers, so you are getting essentially the same effect used by countless artists and producers AND the settings some of them use to dial in iconic tones. Good proposition, TC!
Being a plug-in with a hardware controller cherry on top, EMT 250 also supports DAW automation and project recall, so it doesn’t get any more modern than this. The plug is available in standard VST, AU, and AAX formats while the hardware is covered by a three-year warranty. For USD 350, which might as well be the price of the reverb plug-in alone, I’d say you are getting a commendable deal.
