TC Electronic Hall Of Fame 2 X4: A reverb pedal on steroids
After last month’s revamp of the Flashback 2 X4, TC Electronic has announced an expanded version of its Hall Of Fame reverb pedal. It’s added four pressure-sensitive MASH footswitches and eight reverb presets while incorporating the shimmer reverb algorithm from the Hall of Fame 2.
Hall Of Fame 2 X4 reverb
This pedal ports the Flashback 2 X4 format with four MASH footsxwitches to the Hall Of Fame 2, which was previously available in a standard format with one MASH switch. It’s a big update that expands the compact Hall of Fame 2 into a more expansive format. The 2 X4 has four MASH footswitches to let you switch between the various reverbs more easily. Depending on how hard you press down on those MASH footswitches, you can control up to three effect parameters as well.
The bank switch allows users to access a further four presets so the unit can run with eight presets at any one time. Which, I think you will agree, is a lot of reverb choices in one pedal.
Presets and TonePrint
While the pedal has ten built in reverbs, you also get a further six TonePrint slots for storing your effects. The pedal has a pre-delay knob that allows you to fine tune your reverb response times.
The Shimmer reverb from the Hall of Fame 2 is available alongside the spring, church, plate and hall reverbs. The Shimmer ‘verb reverb uses SUB ‘N’ UP OCTAVER algorithm for what TC describe as “other-worldly sounds”.
The Hall of Fame 2 X4 has both mono and stereo outputs, and you can run it in buffered or true-bypass modes. That makes it perfect for just about any pedalboard setup. Given its size, though, you might have re-jog your pedalboard if space is already at a premium.
