Tech 21 Marty Friedman Signature SansAmp Pedal
Get Marty Friedman's iconic tones in a compact pedal
Guitar virtuoso Marty Friedman has collaborated with Tech 21 to develop his signature SansAmp pedal. Tech 21 has managed to squeeze a lot of valuable tools for live and studio work into this shiny silver box!
Marty Friedman Signature SansAmp
The Marty Friedman Signature SansAmp arrives pre-loaded with his essential clean, dirty, and lead tones. Tech 21 makes some great solutions for guitar and bass players, so it makes sense that Marty Friedman would work with them on a signature SansAmp.
Two Modes
As a guitarist, Marty champions simplicity in his setup, so this new signature model aims to make life easier for the working musician.
Operating much like the SansAmp PSA 2.0, it offers two distinct modes: Performance mode, which provides instant access to three core presets, and Studio mode, which unlocks 128 preset slots.

Simple to Use
Storing and recalling programs is easy, with controls that adjust smoothly and linearly and provide immediate feedback. Users dial in their desired tone and press the Save button.
“This is it! This pedal has been a long time coming, and only a truly exceptional design engineer like Andrew Barta could craft something with these beautiful tones and make it so incredibly simple to use. Effects this easy to use haven’t been known to produce world-class sounds until now. I’m proud to put my name on the first one.” – Marty Friedman
The pedal features controls for Drive, Low, Mid, and High (active tone controls that boost or cut), Reverb, Gate (for dynamic signal cleanup), and a Filter control specifically voiced for Friedman’s unique sound, which shapes the midrange.
Stage & Studio
The Marty Friedman Signature SansAmp is versatile enough for studio recording and live performances. In the studio, it can be employed for direct recording, enhancing existing tracks, and adding unique textures to various instruments.
On stage, it serves as a preamp direct to a power amp, a “monster direct box” to a PA system (or both simultaneously), and as an outboard processor. The built-in speaker/cab sim uses SansAmp Tube Amplifier Emulation technology, covers the entire signal chain, from preamp to power amp to speaker simulation, and complements any guitar speaker cabinet system.
Other key features include a built-in Tuner, Effects Loop, and MIDI. It also comes equipped with a handy low-impedance XLR output (with a ground lift) that can go directly to a PA or mixing desk.
Built to Last
It is built to the usual high standard of Tech 21 pedals, with rugged metal construction and silent switching. My Tech 21 pedals, which I’ve owned for decades, are still going strong, so I expect this new one to be the same.
There is a lot to like here, and it covers a lot of ground in a compact format, so I can see it being handy. It could be a great tool to have in your gig bag.
