Telecasters that you could put under the tree
These Telecaster Gift Ideas will help you choose for yourself or a loved one. With loads available, here are some that reflect all tones and budgets.
Tele Gifts for Christmas:
Telecaster Gift Ideas: New Guitar Time!
As a guitarist, there’s no better feeling than waking up on Christmas morning to find a triangular-shaped box under the tree. Or, it could be rectangular if it’s in a case!
13 years later, and I still have my very first Strat that I found under the Christmas tree one year. The sentimental value will survive longer than the guitar itself.
For younger players, that new axe is the next boost of motivation and inspiration to get practising harder and faster. With these Telecaster gift ideas, you’ll have a better understanding of what you could invest in for your loved one.
Harley Benton TE-20HH SBK
Our first Telecaster gift idea comes from Harley Benton. If you’re unfamiliar, this brand offers remarkably good quality instruments at admirable prices. This twin-humbucker example is a great starting point.
Visually, it’s just what any new player needs to rock out! Guitars like this just didn’t exist when I started playing. Aside from the awesome Matt Black basswood body, we’ve hardwearing and accurate DLX die-cast tuners and black metal hardware.
The neck is a comfortable modern C profile and houses 22 frets upon a maple neck. For beginners, this is a great way to get into playing. Financially it makes a lot of sense this Christmas, plus it actually has respectable materials. Available to order just in time for the big day at *Thomann.
Squier Affinity Tele MN BB
From bargain basement models, we’re moving up a gear. For years, Squier has always been the go-to for entry-level guitars. This Affinity model is a great addition to our look at Telecaster gift ideas.
Quite the contrast from the matt black, eh? Personally, I love this Butterscotch Blonde finish. It’s a bit left-field but traditional and classy. A popular body with a cutaway bolts onto a maple neck and fingerboard. Meaning that you’ve got a guitar that will last but also isn’t too heavy.
Furthermore, we have more of the usual Telecaster features such as a 3-way pickup selector and two ceramic single-coil pickups. For under €250 / £200, it’s a wonderful piece of musical equipment.
Harley Benton Electric Guitar Kit T-Style
Now, perhaps you know someone who is good with their hands? Perhaps a little winter project to keep them busy? Well this T-Style guitar kit could be the answer!
This DIY kit allows you to build the Telecaster of your dreams. Well, almost. Colour-wise, the Rengas body comes just as mother nature intended. So why not head down to your nearest auto parts or craft store to get a rattle can of your choice?
The double-action truss rod neck fits comfortably into the body, and all of the other components screw into the pre-drilled holes nicely. We have a guide on building one of these kits here at gearnews.
Squier CV 60s Custom Tele 3-SB
Again, we’re working our way up the price points. However, these Classic Vibe guitars from Squier do not disappoint! Essentially, you’re getting a near-as-makes-no-difference full-fat Fender Telecaster for cheap. For the purists, the materials aren’t the same, but you can’t argue that they’re great value.
Something more traditional compared to cheaper examples, we have a 3-saddle string through body bridge and a 3-ply parchment pickguard. For me, the highlight of these Classic Vibe guitars are their laminated maple necks. Smooth as silk!
Full 1960s spec here, we’ve got 21 narrow tall frets along with vintage-style machine heads. Plus, Alinco single coil pickups for that classic Telecaster twang! A very underrated instrument that is currently available from Thomann.
Fender Player II Series Tele
To conclude our look at Telecaster gift ideas, we’ve got a model line of guitars that are brand new! Released back in the summer, the Player II series is a top guitar to gift this year!
These Player II guitars utilise and encompass materials and finishes usually reserved for higher-up and more expensive models. Such as ClassicGear tuners and rosewood fingerboards. We’ve also got synthetic bone nuts to aid tuning and intonation further.
Even better, there are loads of finishes to choose from! I love that Fender has gone for a bright range of colours. So whether this will be a nice Christmas surprise or a gigging tool, you won’t be disappointed with your purchase.
Telecaster Gift Ideas: Rock Rock Rudolf!
Of course, there are bigger and better Telecaster guitars out there. However, this selection explores those that are actually affordable and attainable.
