Tesseract Modular Radioactive: toxic analog modelling digital oscillator
Radioactive is a digital chiptune-inspired synth voice for Eurorack with 5 different waveshaping modes, 3 channels of selectable waveforms, multi-mode envelope, inbuilt quantizing and slew. That’s a lot of fun in 6HP.
Radioactive
Radioactive contains a 14-bit analog modelling voltage controlled digital sound source. There are 3 independent oscillators that can select from a bank of 9 basic waveforms. Mixing the waveforms through the 5 different waveshaping modes it’s possible to generate thousands of possible waveshapes. It has a voltage-controlled AR/ASR transient generator and voltage controlled slew. You can trigger or gate the envelope and use single modes or a rather unusual 3-note polyphonic mode. You can apply some quantization to semitones if you wish or have them free-flowing.
The sound is grungy, toxic and deliciously dirty. It’s raw and naked, gnawing its way through your signal path with a surprising amount of ferocity. It’s not pretty, but that’s why it deserves a place in your rack.
