The best studio gear of 2022 for music production
It’s that time of the year when we look back on the year’s most exciting releases. This is the best studio gear of 2022 for music production.
If you’re an artist, producer, engineer, or simply an enthusiast, you’ll know there are always new ways to improve your audio setup sonically as well as creatively.
What is the best studio gear of 2022?
Many of us have limited space or need portability, while others have requisites based on whether we produce music acoustically or electronically.
KRK GoAux
Decent portable monitoring solutions are hard to come by. However, the new KRK GoAux range offers a practical way to do it, without having to worry about too much additional cabling.
Isolation stands and a carry bag are included, and connectivity includes Bluetooth 5, as well as RCA and minijack. Both models also feature corrective EQ, while the GoAux 4 has an Automatic Room Correction (ARC) system with a measurement mic.
elysia xpressor neo
While the elysia xpressor is not necessarily a new product, the newly updated xpressor neo range offers even more value without a significant price increase, and this makes it worth mentioning.
The compression parameters and features remain, but the internal circuitry and aesthetics have been given a complete overhaul. As before, the xpressor is available in 500-series, qube desktop, and rackmount format.
Teenage Engineering TX-6
Every hardware release from Teenage Engineering is met with a certain level of hype, but the TX-6 delivers in almost every area. A ruggedly built compact minijack mixer for electronic music production and live performance.
What’s more, the firmware will continue to unlock new features as we have seen with the most recent update. Having an integrated audio interface, an onboard synthesizer and sequencer, as well as MIDI via Bluetooth at your fingertips certainly makes the mind boggle.
SSL BUS+
With the digitally controlled 100% analogue signal path technology synonymous with high-end consoles, the BUS+ takes the renowned G-Comp design to new heights.
With four operating modes and three types of compression, the BUS+ is easily one of the most versatile hardware processors on the market. Process your stereo output in mixing or mastering, or sculpt individual tracks with the extensive tools it has onboard.
SSL BiG SiX
With everyone mixing predominantly in the box, analogue mixing desks might not provide the same level of utility as they once did. That being said, a manufacturer like SSL wouldn’t upsize the SiX desktop mixer without considerable demand.
The BiG SiX brings value as a recording front end, a summing solution, or a high-end live console for a podcast or even a small venue. Although the price tag may be hefty, you won’t find comparable channel strips of this quality if you bought individual preamps, EQs, and compressors.

I agree with all the suggestions but the td 6 does not belong on the list. For me this is nothing but a toy.
