Elektron Analog RYTM OS 1.70 Update
It’s been over three years since the Analog RYTM received a major OS update, so this is an exciting development for Elektronauts. Now, with OS version 1.70, the Analog RYTM hybrid drum machine is even more capable than ever.

For starters, the OS version 1.70 offers a new Euclidean sequencer mode. Here, there are algorithms to separate time ranges and create equal divisions. Meanwhile, step parameters, pulses, and offset can all be adjusted.
As you can imagine, the two Euclidean generators can work together to create complex polyrhythmic patterns and loops. This approach can produce unexpected results, which allows for exciting creative mistakes that can rekindle your love for the RYTM.
In addition, there is a range of new sound generation features in the form of five new machines:
HH LAB : Metalic modeling and sound design
SY CHIP : Inspired by the Elektron SidStation
BD and SD Acoustic : New types of bass drums and snares
SY RAW : A machine with waveforms for creating basses, leads, and pitched percussion sounds

What’s more, there are additions to current machines, with a range of new parameters. A new squarewave shape is now available in BD SHARP, there’s a pitch envelope for BT CLASSIC, while there are two pulse width controls for CB CLASSIC and CB METALLIC.
There is also a range of usability features for music production and live performance. While you’re busy editing parameters, you can now use a page loop feature to loop the currently selected sequencer page.
Sampling is also more efficient, as you can specify any number of sequencer steps to set the record length for your samples. Also, a new feature allows sounds to be saved from sequencer trigs, the LFO has a new Slew parameter and much more.
You can explore the complete list of innovations on the Elektron website, with installation instructions.

One response to “The Elektron Analog RYTM OS 1.70 Update: 5 New Machines and more!”
Everybody comes out of the woodwork to complain when elektron releases special editions, or even new hardware. “Update the old stuff before you do new stuff”, they say. But when elektron does update the old stuff, it’s crickets.
