The Harley Benton CL-15M series: Four new solid mahogany acoustics
The CL-15M Solid Wood Family is Harley Benton’s latest series of acoustic guitars. All four models have solid mahogany tops, backs and sides, and are offered in the Dreadnought, Auditorium, and Parlor sizes.

The M in CL-15M stands for mahogany, a relatively dense wood with a darker appearance and which, Harley Benton states, gives these new models ‘warmth, depth, and plenty of character’. Using solid mahogany for the bodies of these acoustics should lead to full and resonant-sounding chords, with plucked runs coming across detailed and nuanced.
The Scalloped X-bracing construction provides body stiffness and strength, while the Pau-Ferro fingerboard should be smooth and comfortable to play. The CLD-15MCE and CLA-15MCE versions also have a handy cutaway for easier access to the upper frets.
Model overview
The CL-15M Solid Wood Family is available in four versions. The CLD-15MCE offers the sonic abundance of a full-scale dreadnought guitar. So it should ideal for players looking for maximum volume, which is supplemented here by the built-in Fishman preamplifier system for connection to PA systems.
Two of the four models have an auditorium shape that combines excellent projection with a slightly reduced body depth for more convenient handling: the CLA-15MCE which features a cutaway and a built-in preamplifier, and the CLA-15M with a traditional, completely rounded shape and no electronics.
Last but not least, the CLP-15ME comes in parlor format, almost the ideal travel guitar. It has a shortened scale, Fishman electronics, and should be an excellent companion for musicians on the move.
