The Stinger is Macmull Custom Guitars’ new twin-P90 tone machine
A dual P90 boutique bolt-on
Macmull Custom Guitars’ new Stinger model is a twin P90 pickup loaded affair, with emphasis on high quality and roadworthiness. This Israeli built boutique guitar has a unique sweeping pickguard and body shape that is sure to catch your eye.
Macmull Custom Guitars The Stinger
The Stinger is boutique brand Macmull Custom Guitars’ interpretation of a classic design, and it is off to a flying start with this pickup layout. Loaded with two hand-wound Macmull RVT P90s wired via a single volume and tone control, and a Luxe Bumblebee oil-filled .022mF capacitor, this guitar is certainly all about tone.
Tone Woods
The guitar features a 25.5″ scale length and has a lightweight Black Limba body with a bolt-on one piece premium maple neck, a 12-inch radius Madagascar Rosewood fretboard, and a bone nut. The fretboard has 22 Jescar medium frets, and the neck has an Oval C profile and is oil finished.
The whole thing weighs a reasonable 3.5kg, and all models are finished in a light satin nitrocellulose finish, with various colours on offer.
Hardware
The Stinger features a fairly simple set of hardware. You get a string-through body Macmull Stinger Bridge with brass saddles, paired with a set of Gotoh Japan tuners. It’s a simple yet effective formula. To me, that sweeping pickguard is well done and suits the overall body shape of the guitar nicely.
Boutique Build Quality
If you are looking for a nice boutique guitar with attention to detail, then The Stinger is certainly one to have in mind. As with all small boutique guitar builders, there are plenty of options on offer for this model, too.
You can hear the guitar in action in the demo videos below, or follow the link to the Macmull Custom Guitars official page for more details.
