The Strymon Deco Plugin brings character to your DAW
With the Strymon Deco Plugin, you have access to all the tonal controls of the Deco pedal within the flexible DAW environment.
Rather than simply using it as a guitar effect, Strymon has created a versatile software effect that can be used on almost any instrument you can think of.
Strymon Deco Plugin
For starters, the plugin has two operating modes, namely Normal mode and Studio mode, the latter being the default which provides an extra 10 dB of headroom to play with.
Like the pedal, the Tape Saturation and Double Tracker sections are independent of each other, but there are a few added features that encourage you to use more instances of the plug-in.
On the saturation side, the volume, tone, and saturation controls remain with the addition of a low-trim pot which is useful for creating a more focused sound.
The double tracker’s Lag Time control now features a Tempo Sync mode with beat divisions and tap tempo, making the Deco Plug-in a powerful creative tool for rhythmic effects.
What’s more, features like Wide Stereo and the Auto Flanger can add more colour and spread to synths and vocals. Overall, the plugin version of the Deco has a wider scope of application. The only question that remains is whether it sounds as good.
