Three Body: Triple oscillator masterpiece from Schlappi Engineering
Three Body is an immense 3-oscillator module that Eric Schlappi has been working on for years and is finally nearing completion. A new video gives us a glimpse of what to expect.
Three Body
The module is FPGA based and each oscillator can handle multiple waveforms. From that simple premise the modulation begins. We have everything from frequency modulation, through to phase modulation and cross modulation, with every signal path messing up the nature of every other signal path in sync or in freeflow. Feedback is developed into an art form as complex waveforms emerge from every socket. It can get very exciting in there.
It’s an evolving digital experience with clashes and bangs hammering out edgy tones and timbres that fight for dominance. It’s less of instrument and more of a battle between waveforms.
The prototype is certainly impressive and brilliantly stereo which is very on-trend at the moment. We’re unlikely to see it until the end of the year but it certainly gives us something to look forward to.
