TK Audio BC1Ltd. compressor: A snow-white boutique rarity
Swedish gear manufacturer TK Audio has announced a new version of its flagship-tier bus compressor. The BC1Ltd. differs with a more apparent compression character in addition to the transparent mode that the original variant is known for. Only 100 individually-numbered units will be made available, so this one is going to be a rarity.
The BC1Ltd. was designed to commemorate TK Audio’s tenth anniversary and also bring some user-requested features to the compressor. There’s a new Grab setting which makes for more aggressive, in-your-face compression which may be suitable for a drum bus or a snappier-sounding mix.
TK also added a THD switch, which introduces additional crunch and overdrive to the input material. Additionally, there are three switchable high-pass filter options for the sidechain signal, which should help tame bass instruments and frequencies.
Finally, TK improved the compressor’s Attack with new attack time settings which make the unit more versatile.
