ToneBoosters Dual VCF: An attractive filter plug-in for EUR 19.
Known for high-quality plug-ins priced more than fairly, developer ToneBoosters released quite possibly the best analog filter plug-in you can buy for EUR 19. Dual VCF has two simulated voltage control filters with envelope followers and modulation editor, beat syncing, scalable interface, and a variety of filter designs.
By modulating the filters, you can creatively add a sense of movement and depth to your tracks. You are given the most important tools, which are the flagship filters of the 70s throughout the 90s, envelope followers and LFOs (with user shapes) for modulation. The filter models are taken from various analog equipment, including synthesizers. They are are organized in Low Pass, High Pass, and Band Pass types. You can also let signals pass through the plug-in without filtering anything, injecting some analog color.
Supporting sample rates up to 384kHz, Dual VCF also works with multi-channel audio in Dolby Atmos, Ambisonics, Facebook and YouTube 360. So if you are into that, the plug-in has you covered for up to 16 channels.
While Audiomodern recently released a similar plug-in for free, called Filterstep, I still find Dual VCF packing quite a bit of value for the price of a home-delivered meal. Aside from Windows and macOS, you can even have the plug-in for iOS if you are doing iPhone/iPad/iPod music. Great stuff!
