Two new Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HSH models for 2021
In Slime Green and Robin's Egg Blue
These new Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HSH FR models are part of Charvel’s new releases for 2021. There is a choice of two colours, with either maple or ebony fretboards.
Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HSH
This Charvel Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HSH FR model for 2021 comes in either Slime Green with a maple fretboard or a Robin’s Egg Blue with an ebony ‘board. Both versions have a Floyd Rose 1000 locking trem system and a set of Seymour Duncan pickups in an HSH layout. These include the Seymour Duncan Distortion TB-6 in the bridge, an SSL-6 Single-Coil in the middle, and a Distortion SH-6N in the neck position.
Wiring
All the pickups are wired via a 5-way blade switch and a single volume control and no-load tone control. The five pickup settings are listed below:
- Position 1. Full Bridge Pickup
- Position 2. Bridge Inner Coil and Middle Pickup
- Position 3. Bridge Outer Coil and Neck Pickup
- Position 4. Middle and Neck Pickup
- Position 5. Full Neck Pickup
Speed Neck
Both variations have an alder body and a maple Speed Neck with rolled fingerboard edges, pretty standard stuff for Charvel. But, as mentioned earlier, we do have a choice of either maple or ebony fretboards. Each neck is loaded with 22 jumbo frets on a 12″-16″ compound radius fretboard, so expect a super smooth ride.
Green Meanie?
The Slime Green model reminds me a lot of Steve Vai’s Green Meanie guitar and I suspect we will see a lot of conversions in the coming year. Overall, a nice set of HSH guitars from Charvel, with decent pricing. Head over to the Charvel site from the links below to read the full specifications on each model.
RRP – USD 999.99 each
