Two new Gretsch Richard Fortus Signature Falcon models for the GNR guitarist
Two new Falcons
Guns N’ Roses guitarist Richard Fortus has a new signature model. The Gretsch Richard Fortus Signature Falcon comes in two versions, one with a Bigsby and the other with a V-stop-tail.
Gretsch Richard Fortus Signature Falcon
Gretsch and Richard Fortus have just announced two new models. The Richard Fortus Signature Falcon comes in two versions, the G6636-RF* (Tune-O-Matic Steg with V-Stoptail Tailpiece) and G6636T-RF* (TonePros TP6R Tremolo with Roller Saddles and Bigsby B6CP String-Through Vibrato Tailpiece).
Both versions feature a maple body with a center block made of spruce. The neck is also made of maple and is glued in. This then has an ebony fretboard, with 22 medium jumbo frets and Pearloid Neo-Classic Thumbnail fretboard markers. The neck itself has a U-profile and some beautiful-looking binding.
“Gretsch has always been such an integral part of rock n’ roll tone. From Malcolm to Harrison, Neil Young to Billy Duffy. It’s such an honour and lifelong dream to have my name associated with it.
“I wanted something that I could play all night for rhythm and lead. With their classic Gretsch chime, along with their super thick and tight low end, these Falcons are built to be all-around versatile guitars for all types of players.” – Richard Fortus
Different scales
Apart from the paintwork and the bridge, there is another significant difference. The white model with the Bigsby has a 25.5″ scale, while the black version has a shorter scale of 24.6″.
Both have a pair of custom-wound Filter’Tron pickups in the bridge and neck positions. These are wired via a master volume control with Treble Bleed circuit, a single master tone control with no-load potentiometer and a 3-way switch.
Overall, a couple of really nice looking Gretsch models for the Guns N’ Roses guitarist. You can hear both of them in the demo video below.
