UAD Software 9.12 adds Neve 1084 preamp & EQ emulation
Universal Audio is ready with UAD Software 9.12, a new release for owners of its DSP-powered audio interfaces and accelerators. Version 9.12’s highlight is an emulation of the coveted Neve 1084 mic preamp and equalizer module.
Found in the Neve 80 series consoles, the 1084 adds three switchable EQ bands with narrow or wide Q settings to the well-known 1073 preamp. The emulation is endorsed by AMS Neve. It captures the entire dual-stage class-A preamp, the EQ circuit, and the post-fader output amplifier.
UA’s Unison technology is also at play, simulating the original Neve module’s front-end response. All 13 clipping points from the original hardware are recreated, and presets from top-class producers like Joe Chiccarelli are available as starting points.
The plug-in is priced USD 299 and is available exclusively to owners of UAD hardware.
