From Anti to Enigmatic to Knuckles: Universal Audio is continuing their series of legendary amps as pedals with a Rev F emulation! The UAFX Knuckles ‘92 Rev F Dual Rec Amplifier gets you that sound. Three voicings, six virtual cabs, and additional functionality via USB-C – we know the drill by now.

Knuckle up, cowboy

It seems a lot like this is the highlight of the UAFX amp-in-a-box series. I mean, a Ref F in a pedal with the sound quality of Universal Audio we’ve come to know? The UAFX Knuckles ’92 might tick even more boxes (or cabs) than its three predecessors Lion, Anti, and Enigmatic.

UAFX promises the guitar sound of likes of Rock legends like Incubus or the Foo Fighters just as much as the piercing leads of Nevermore or Dream Theater. We all know it, we all love it. Setting this beast as the final pedal on a board might be the set-it and forget-it Rock ‘n Roll solution many have been looking for.

UAFX Knuckles ’92: Green, orange, and red channels

Regarding the sound options, you get orange, green, and red channels, just like the Recto, via the three-way switch on the right. While the switch in the middle switches between amp, alternative and store mode, where you can change and store presets, the switch on the right lets you select three cabs:

  • UK V30: 4×12 British cab with V30’s
  • CA V30: 4×12 Oversized American cab with V30’s
  • White 75: 4×12 British cab with Celestion 75’s

Through the dedicated UAFX app (connection through USB-C), you get three additional cabs you can exchange the original ones with: 1×12 EV12, 4×12 Celestion 80’s, and 4×12 Brown. Plus, you can switch between emulations of EL-34 or 6L6 power tubes for Bias and between solid-state or tube rectifiers through the app as well.

And finally, there is both a noise gate (accessible through the ALT mode) and a Tube Screamer style boost included. The UAFX Knuckles ’92 looks to deliver lots of sonic variety in the world of distorted guitar. And if the recent releases of the software versions of Dream, Ruby, and Lion are any indications, there might even be VST versions of these sought-after guitar tones on the horizon.

What does the new Knuckles pedal from Universal Audio cost?

The UAFX Knuckles ’92 is available now at Thomann* for 429 euros.
