UJAM and Bob Moog Foundation Vox Humana
Some synth sounds are so legendary, even non-synth nerds can recognize them. The Yamaha DX7’s E. Piano 1 is up there, as is the Minimoog in full Rick Wakeman flight. But towering above them all is Vox Humana, one of the presets on the Moog Polymoog Keyboard. Released in 1978, the Polymoog 280a (as it’s also known) is the sound that defines Gary Numan’s international hit ‘Cars’. I’ll bet you’re hearing it right now in your head.

While there are a few different software emulations of the two Polymoog instruments, it’s possible that you only want the one famous preset, Vox Humana. If that sounds like you, it’s your lucky day for we’ve just got word of the UJAM and Bob Moog Foundation Vox Humana.
UJAM and Bob Moog Foundation Vox Humana: Faithful Recreation
Calling it a faithful recreation, the UJAM and Bob Moog Foundation Vox Humana is a standalone virtual plugin instrument based around samples of a vintage Polymoog Keyboard captured by soundtrack composer and YouTube synthsation Alex Ball.
Vox Humana utilizes UJAM’s proprietary Gorilla Engine, a “platform widely used by top plugin manufacturers,” according to the company. The plugin features four timbral modes – Original, Bright, Hollow, and Octaves – plus attack and decay envelope controls, Chorus, Phaser, and Delay effects, plus 10 presets.
