Union Audio Orbit LE rotary DJ mixers have arrived with four new models in two-channel and four-channel configurations. Surprisingly, two have built-in DSP effects.
Union Audio Orbit LE Rotary DJ Mixers
Rotary DJ mixers continue their takeover of the entire DJ world with four new models from UK manufacturer Union Audio. Called Orbit LE, these two-channel and four-channel rotary mixers have everything you’d expect from high-quality mixers plus something you might not: effects.
The models in the series include the Orbit.2 LE and Orbit.4 LE plus the Orbit.2 LE FX and Orbit.4 LE FX. I’ll leave you to suss out which ones have the built-in effects.
Union Audio Orbit LE Rotary DJ Mixers: The Details
All of the mixers feature fully independent channels, each with high-quality phono pre-amplifier and line inputs, highpass filter with variable Q, FX send with pre/post switch and an Alps rotary fader.
The master channel sports separate level controls for master out, booth out and aux return, with monitoring courtesy two backlit custom analog VU meters. The headphone amp has split cue and cue/mix with both 1/4” and 3.5mm headphone jacks.
Union Audio Orbit LE Rotary DJ Mixers: The Isolators
While all four mixers have an isolator circuit, the particulars differ between the effect and non-effect versions. The Orbit.2 LE and Orbit.4 LE mixers each have a three-band isolator with full cut to +7dB and crossovers between 110Hz and 3KHz. The effects units up the circuit to four bands (switchable between three and four), with an extra sub isolator channel.
Union Audio Orbit LE Rotary DJ Mixers: The Effects
While it’s not unheard of for a rotary mixer to have effects – the AlphaTheta euphonia has them, for example – it is still on the rare side. Both the Orbit.2 LE FX and Orbit.4 LE FX have eight built-in digital DSP effects, including delays, reverbs, phaser, flanger, bit-crusher, and resonant filters, with Delay 2 able to detect and sync to BPM.
You can also connect the mixer to an external effects unit via the send and return channels.
