The Valeton VLP-400 has grown slightly compared to its smaller predecessor, the VLP-200. But this also means that it has more functions. A special highlight of the VLP-400 is the integrated collaboration mode (SERIAL & FREE), which makes it possible to play two loops in parallel or switch between them. This feature opens up a wide range of possibilities to work creatively with different overdubs.

The VLP-400 supports intelligent doubling of overdubs, which means you can overwrite an existing track multiple times. Each overdub can be set to exactly times the current loop duration, which provides versatile sound variations.

Advanced Sound Design

Compared to the VLP-200, the Valeton VLP-400 offers even more possibilities for sound shaping with the ASSIGN knobs and ASSIGN footswitches. With just a few spins, seven effects can be activated:

  • Octave
  • Reverse
  • Freeze
  • Half
  • Fade
  • Solo

The VLP-400 uses 32-bit float technology for the drum machine’s recording and AD/DA conversion, which ensures high-quality sound. In addition, it offers twice the memory capacity compared to the VLP-200, which further increases the flexibility and performance of the looper. We’re talking about 99 memory slots and a total of 12 hours of audio recording capacity.

On the back you will find a mic/line-in, line-outs and MIDI in/out. So you can also connect a microphone for vocals. Ideal for street performers!

I really hope that the two loopers will be able to sync with each other this time. That’s not the case on the VLP200, which is a shame imo. It defeats the whole purpose of this pedal, who needs two parallel loopers that can’t sync with each other ??
