Victory Amps The Deputy – British 60s & 70s amp tones
New 2024 model designed with Pete Honore
Victory Amps The Deputy is the amp brand’s latest 25-watt tube amp head. Based on a single-channel amp and vintage voicing, this map was designed for Pete Honore.
Victory Amps The Deputy
The Deputy is a classic single-channel amp whose single channel, according to the manufacturer, effortlessly spans the arc from 60’s British Clean to 70’s Classic Rock with a single gain control. In other words: Set correctly, you get a seamless transition between the described sounds from Clean to Crunch to Lead Gain via the volume pot of your guitar alone.
Simplicity = Tone
It was developed with Pete Honore and based on his love of the Sheriff 25* and is being marketed as a vintage-voiced, easy-to-use tube head. I like simple amps and this one looks to be relatively simple, in a good way. Less stuff often means more time to dial it in with what you have and enjoy the tones the amp rewards you with.

3 Voicings
With a power of 25 watts, it should have plenty of clean headroom. In addition, there are separate gain and master controls, so users can also access creamy drive sounds in the living room. The Deputy has a voice switch with three positions with different gain reserves:
- In position 1 (top) you get the lowest gain setting.
- In position 2 (center) you enjoy a maximum gain of +6 dB, which is influenced by the gain setting of the amplifier.
- In position 3 (below) it sounds like position 2, only with more mids and highs.
EQ, FX Loop and Reverb
For further sound shaping, a 3-band EQ and presence control, which works in the power amplifier, are available. In addition, the amplifier offers a Bright switch and so has plenty of tone-sculpting features.
For effect lovers, a serial effect loop loop is available. When not being used it is completely removed from the circuit.
Last but not least, is the digital reverb. This can be activated by a foot switch and is somewhere between a plate and a reverb.
Overall, this looks like a great little single-channel amp head. Victory Amps are making some good quality amps and their reputation is rapidly growing.
