Volt Electrics are debuting The Reverse at the Holy Grail Guitar Show in Berlin later this year. The company is based in the Netherlands and makes some ’60s inspired custom electrics that have an almost Telecaster-like twang to them.

Custom

We don’t have huge amounts of details on these new guitars yet, but they appear to have a lot of custom-made hardware unique to the brand. The design is also very reminiscent of a Gibson Reverse Firebird, which I personally find really appealing.

Neck Dive

Designer Ewout Nijman and luthier Sander de Gier have teamed up to create the Volt Electrics brand. Each guitar is hand built. They also state that there is no ‘neck dive’ which traditional Gibson Firebirds can often suffer from, so I like that they have remedied that old issue.

Options

Buyers of The Reverse can select either Swamp Ash or Mahogany for the body. The necks are made from one piece of maple with a rosewood or maple fingerboard. The pickups are the Lollar Firebird, which I know quite well and sound great to my ear. I’m personally a big fan of Jason Lollar pickups; they are the perfect choice for this type of guitar.

Each guitar is finished in nitrocellulose paint and can be absolutely mint or aged if you want, with either light or heavy ageing as options. There are lots of other custom finishing options including metallic paint jobs, binding, block or trapezoid fret inlays, alder bodies and even pickup number (anything from one to three pickups).

I love this guitar’s look and am really looking forward to hearing some reviews of The Reverse after the Berlin Holy Grail Guitar Show, which is on the 8th and 9th October. If they sound and play as good as they look, I would love to try one out myself.
